New Research Engineer: Christian Berg

CBE_Uten_slips_fvWe are proud to present that Christian Berg joins our team as a Research Engineer in Kelda Drilling Controls.

He will work on his industrial Ph.D. with Kelda and HiT on the topic of modeling for automatic control and estimation of influx and loss during drilling operations.Holds a trade certificate as a laboratory technician and completed his B.Sc degree in gas and energy technology from Telemark University College (HiT) in the spring of 2012. Received his M.Sc. in Process Technology from HiT in the spring of 2014 within modeling and experimental study of viscoelastic flow.

Pål Jacob Nessjøen comes from position as senior development advisor at National Oilwell Varco (NOV). Background from positions within Corporate R&D and technical support on drilling control systems at NOV. M.Sc. degree in engineering cybernetics. Expert on drilling control systems, instrumentation, data acquisition, configuration, and interface to rig equipment and HMI.

Research grant from Oslofjordfondet

Project is entitled: “Sanntids-estimering av pore- og oppsprekningstrykk”.

Geir Arne Evjen comes from a position as principal researcher in Statoil R&D with background from process modelling, multiphase flow, fluids and flow-assurance. He has been the system architect in several R&D projects on advanced software for estimation and data reconciliation. M.Sc. in chemical engineering; about to finish PhD in thermodynamics. Expert in thermodynamics, optimization, data communication, and programming.

Lead and chief architect on some of Boeing’s most prestigeous projects on advanced flight controls, with an unprecedented track record of successful projects.

Kelda Drilling Controls Established

kelda_200pxGlenn-Ole Kaasa leaves in agreement with Statoil his position as leader of department of Intelligent Drilling in Statoil R&D to establish Kelda Drilling Controls.

Since 2007 Hydro and Statoil have put major efforts into the development of enhanced automation technology for pressure control in drilling. This research has been based on internal competence from production optimization and multiphase flow modeling, and collaboration with leading international expertise on applied advanced control system design.

Kelda was established in agreement with Statoil with the objective to strengthen the development of the technology, and accelerate implementation.
